The post explaining this blog's purpose...

Let me take you back a couple of months:  I was living in a hotel room with my husband and two children.  All of our belongings were packed up in boxes, stored in a POD in the driveway at home.  My scrapbook and jewelry-making supplies were in boxes in my garage.  We had someone making our beds and washing our towels each day, no dishes to clean, only a suitcase-per-person amount of laundry to wash and fold every week...  We ate a daily continental breakfast and takeout each night for dinner.  We lived this way from November 7th until the Tuesday before Christmas, so there was no holiday decorating to do.   With all of that extra time on my hands, what was I to do?  I'll tell you what I did.  I watched YouTube videos and taught myself how to knit and crochet and macrame.  That's right.

So per usual, I am completely obsessed, immersed, engaged, or whatever word is best for describing the dawn-'til-dusk attention that my mind is giving to the manipulation of yarn and rope.  Just give me a minute - its just a phase, I'm sure.

I am truly a beginner.  I can make a slip knot. I can knit/purl (is that how you spell purl?) with needles.  I can chain, single/double/treble crochet, do a slip stitch, and make a granny square.  I can knit a scarf with my arms. I can weave a wall-hanging with a loom.  I can make a macramé plant hanger.  But that's about it.

I want to get better.

So, I am challenging myself.  I bought a really pretty book last week -  Cute and Easy Crochet: Learn to crochet with these 35 adorable projects.

I'm going to crochet my way through the book, tackling one project at a time.  And I'm going to blog about it.  Care to join me?  No?  Well that's ok.  I understand.  But if you want to follow along as an observer of my lovely little journey, feel free to stop by every now and then.  And make sure to say hi while you are here.
